Gontor — The Mosque Management Forum of the Family Association of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution conducted Janazah (Deceased) Management Course at the association auditorium on Sunday, 21st April 2019. This event was co-sponsored by Dompet Dhuafa’s East Java Branch to bring awareness of this fardhu kifayah act. More than 100 participants from mosque managers and muslim women in Ponorogo attended this course. It is worth mentioning that there was previously planting 1000 trees in the Gontor campuses in cooperation between the Association with Dompet Dhuafa.
This event was further graced by a presence of Sheikh Syamsul Hadi Abdan, Chairman of Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution, who opened the event and supplicated du’a for it. Sheikh Syamsul said that the seeking of this knowledge is obligatory upon every muslim (male and female) so they should not depend on men for shrouding the deceased muslim female. “I hope the participants will deeply understand the materials and can apply that understanding in correct ways when someone dies.”
It was an half day course which consists of theory and practical lesson which allowed the participants to have hands on practice on islamic way of treating dead bodies. This course aimed to prepare the participants to fulfil the funeral rites of their loved ones in a manner according to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
The course teacher was Hajj Sharif Abadi, the senior teacher at Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Institution who has been handling muslim funerals for the last several years. He taught the correct method of perfoming ghusl of the deceased and shrouding it, the janazah prayer and the procedure of burial and the grave. The participants will benefit from practical workshops to strengthen their learning.
